Tamil Nadu’s Mourish Elangovan and Tista Singh of West Bengal clinched the junior boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the Aquafest ITF Aquathlon at the Blue Flag Beach in Kovalam on the outskirts of Chennai.
The Junior event was held in the Sprint format comprising 500m swim and 5K run, while the Senior and Master categories were over the standard distance of 1400m swim and 10K run.
Elangovan won in a time of 40 minutes and 18 seconds, comfortably leading West Bengal’s Ankan Bhattacharjee who clocked 48:29 for second spot.
It was West Bengal 1-2 in junior girls, with Aastha Singh (1:03.05) taking second place, 64 seconds behind Tista, while Sreenandana Haridas of Kerala came third in 1:05.10.
